Today's Tip is also yesterday's tip-- buy smart furniture that gives your small space options; but today I'd like to share another product we have that I love.
It's simply an ottoman/coffee table. We bought it before we had kids because it went with our couch and had the flip-over trays for eating that we liked. But for our lives now, it makes even more sense. We use one half of the ottoman for books-- mostly library books, but also books of our own that the boys are particularly into reading at the moment. I like to rotate the books from their bookshelf to the ottoman since they're much more likely to read the ones in the living room.
The other side of the ottoman we use for our movies we deemed acceptable to keep, (we got rid of many of them because we rarely watched them) and the boys' Wii games and controls. This keeps all of this clutter out of view. It's clutter that we are constantly using, so it makes the cut as being items that we keep, but none of that is nice to look at.
It also provides extra seating when we need it, and when the lids are flipped over they can be surfaces for drinks or plates.
Many companies make them, but here's a link to one that is like ours, but even more convenient in that it separates into two separate cubes.
Have you made smart furniture choices? I hope these ideas will be helpful to you as you make the most of your family's space!
